Recreation Coordinator Reports to:
First Selectman & Recreation Committee Chairman Primary Responsibility:
Plans, organizes, and administers recreational activities and programs and furthers the growth of development of the residents of the Town of Durham through the satisfying and constructive use of leisure time.
Duties:
Plans, organizes, and administers all recreational activities and programs.
Develops budgets for all recreational programs, equipment, and staff.
Ensures that all recreational facilities are well maintained and safe for designated activity.
Hires seasonal staff for recreational programs and activities.
Trains and instructs staff.
Publicizes all recreational programs in local newspapers and by making flyers and posters.
Schedules team play for recreation leagues.
Attends all programs in the capacity of instructor, supervisor, or director.
Attends Recreation Committee meetings to discuss plans and the budget.
Performs other work as required.
Supervision Exercised:
Supervises recreational instructors for playground or recreational activities.
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skill:
Knowledge of techniques, rules, materials, and equipment for indoor and outdoor sports and recreational activities.
Knowledge or First Aid.
Plan, develop and coordinate a varied program of recreational activities.
Plan, assign, train, and supervise the work of recreational instructors.
Organize, lead, teach, and participate in games and activities.
Deal effectively with the general public.
Experience and Training:
College Degree with specialization in the field of Community Recreation.
